Being Free

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of “You’re supposed to…”, “they say you should…”, “we arn’t meant to…”, and “it’s normal to…”.
Who’s place is it to tell us what we can and cannot do?
We are all our own people with our own hearts and souls. Maybe its just me and my rebellious self, but I don’t want to do what everyone says I should do.
I’m not talking about a rebellious attitude, but my rebellious soul.
It’s who God made me to be. He didn’t create me to be put into a box and do what everyone says I “should” do.
He made me to be ME.

When I was 10.
I joined the boys soccer team instead of the girls.
I heard coaches, players, and parents all say “I was not meant to play on the boys team”.

When I was 18.
I made the decision not to go to college.
“You HAVE to go to college!”
What if college wasn’t what God had for me?

and finally when I was 19.
a boy proposed to me and I marry him in 136 days!
I guess 19 is pretty young to get married.
THEY tell me its not what I’m “supposed” to do.
I’m not in college, and I can’t drink.
Who knew getting married when you’re to young to drink was so offensive?

I’ve always been abnormal I guess you can say. But really is there a normal?
Everyone talks about this “normal” that we all have to be. Who is this WE?
If God created us all the same, maybe we would all be considered “normal”, BUT God didn’t want us all to be the same or normal. Thats why HE created us all to be our own.

This is my challenge to YOU…
BE FREE.
Don’t be who “everyone” wants you to be.
Don’t do what you’re “supposed” to do.
Don’t be this so called “normal”.
Be you. Be free.
There is a God, who made you beautiful in his image and he wants YOU to be free.

Does this mean you’ll be ready for all life throws at you?
Probably not.

Am I ready to get married?
Oh gosh no.

But was I ready for…
My loved ones to pass away?
My family to move across the East Coast?
My ex to be abuse me?
Oh gosh no.

Are we really ready for anything?
“Ready” is a lie and it steals us from being free.

Don’t try to prepare yourself to be ready for everything life throws at you. Instead trust in God and be free to be YOU.
